What we do:

We provide individual therapy from an indigenous lens to students, faculty and staff enrolled at UH Mānoa, for the purpose of supporting you through navigating life challenges, such as:

  • Balancing university and personal life
  • Life transitions (e.g., moving away from home, breakups, planning for life after college)
  • Identity development/exploration
  • Managing overwhelming responsibilities and expectations
  • Stress management
  • Institutional racism
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Sleep difficulties

What we don’t do:

While there are always exceptions, in general, we will connect you to other providers or services for the following:

  • Severe mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia)
  • Substance use disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Couples counseling
  • Medication management

Because we cannot guarantee that we will be available when a crisis comes up, our therapists at Ka Malu a Wa’ahila do not provide crisis or emergency services. If you are in crisis, feel you are at imminent risk of harming yourself or others, or are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, please call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room.
